My company rents the office. Do I need buildings insurance?
No. Your landlord is responsible for insuring the building and any items they own within it. You will only have to insure those things which you own. This will include your contents and computer equipment. You will also need to insure against injury to the public (public liability) and your staff (employers liability).
Can I insure contents outside the office?
It is possible, but you must make sure your specific policy extends cover beyond the confines of your office. This would be useful for company laptops or mobile phones which will be used away from the premises.
What if I work from home? Will it be covered by my home insurance?
Working from home is a growing trend, but if you’re bringing office equipment into your house it will not be covered by your conventional home insurance policy. You will need a separate office insurance policy to make sure you are fully protected.
How do I calculate how much cover I need?
Calculate the total value of any property you want to insure. This should include the total rebuild cost of the office and the total value of all items you’d like to cover. You should also perform a risk assessment so you know what you need to guard against.
Are there any exceptions which may not be covered?
Sometimes. Different insurers have their own approach to what is and what isn’t covered. Some will include a list of exceptions which are events or circumstances which they will not insure. Before signing on the dotted line it is always a good idea to read the small print. When you get a Brisco Business quote, you will be presented with options from various insurance companies and review the cover to choose the policy which best suits your needs.
How much does data processing insurance cost?
The cost of your data processing insurance depends on several factors. These include everything from the amount of cover you’d like and the size of your contracts, to your claims history and overall level of risk. All in all, the more likely you are to make a claim on your policy, the more it will cost.
